Common installation problems of telescopic light towers mainly include loosely fixed support feet, misaligned lifting mast positioning, incorrect cable connections, tangled wire ropes, and poor grounding. These problems may lead to safety hazards such as equipment tipping over, lifting jamming, and electrical short circuits.
1. Support feet not leveled or not properly fixed: If the support feet are not adjusted to the point where the wheels are off the ground, or if the fixing pins are not tightly inserted, the equipment is prone to shaking or even tipping over during operation due to uneven force, especially in windy or soft ground conditions.
2. Misalignment of lifting mast positioning holes and U-shaped brackets: If the positioning structure is not aligned during installation, the pins may not be fully inserted, potentially causing the mast to shift or fall off during lifting, affecting overall stability.
3. Incorrect cable connection or insufficient slack: If the six-core and four-core cables are not connected according to the markings, the lights may become uncontrollable; if the cable is pulled taut during lifting without 15-20cm of slack, it can easily cause damage to the joints or internal short circuits.
4. Improper Wire Rope Winding: If the wire rope does not pass through the pulley groove according to the correct path, resulting in skipping or tangling, it will cause uneven stress on the winch, leading to jamming and abnormal noises during lifting and lowering. In severe cases, it may break the wire rope.
5. Incorrect Grounding Protection: Failure to properly connect the grounding wire poses a risk of electric shock in thunderstorms or during electrical leakage, especially important when working on damp construction sites or metal platforms.
6. Loose Fasteners: If fasteners such as the Gland connector and base screws are not fully tightened, they may loosen under prolonged vibration, affecting sealing and structural safety. There have been cases where the lighthouse tipped over and caused fatalities due to improperly installed base screws.
It is recommended to conduct a no-load lifting test after installation and have a specialist check the firmness of all connection points to ensure safe operation of the equipment.
